Dr. Martha Eddy and I are in the process of writing on Bartenieff Fundamentals(BF). Unfortunately there is not much in the public domain. Much of Irmgard's writing is in storage. Coping for Environment by Irmgard Bartenieff has a section in the back about BF. This section got edited down to this. I hear that there was more detailed writing. I have tried to see it myself with no avail.

If you go to categories, there is a lot written on BF. I use BF all the time as a Pilates teacher.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

Hi, I am a dance student and as part of my course I am researching Bartenieffs fundamentals in relation to somatic pratice. I am struggling to find any other imformation relating to her and I already have Peggy Hackney's book. Is there anything you can recommend?

Thanks

I use Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF) all the time in my own practice and teaching. It is about sound biomechanical principles that are underlying in all movements. BF addresses how the body moves 3-dimensionally which most body modalities don't address. How you organize your body in ballet is different from modern dance to hip hop to Irish clogging. It also helps create better neuromuscular patterns which is injury prevention.

Go to Laban Institute of Movement Studies for their programs

I'm doing a project on Bartinieff Fundamentals for my modern technique class. What kind of education is required to teach BF? What outcomes have you found are most beneficail for dancers in particular? I'd appreciate any other info that you think is paramount for dancers.
Thanks!

Unfortunately there is not a lot written for the public. You might try "Moving Connections" By Peggy Hackney. Here are a series of photos on the Bartenieff Fundamentals. http://www.flickr.com/photos/movementsafoot/sets/72157600718101724/

Also Hit categories in my blog on Bartenieff Fundamentals for other info about them. BF are underlying concepts for all movement for better connections of strength and flexibiltiy.

Thank you =)
