Dr.Martha Eddy & Lesley Powell talk about Core
This March get to the core of the matter.
Core is more than abdominals. Muscularly it is your back muscles, iliopsoas in addition to the abs. It is also your bones. If your bones have places not moving correctly, it will affect your use of your core. Your organs affect your core.
Compression of the core can affect your use of your organs and muscles. If your diaphragm is stuck, the breath can not influence your pelvic floor and deep transverse abdominal.
This March we kickstart our BodyMind fitness.
The first weekend, teachers join us for our workshop on Core March 12-15. Kim Fielding will teach a unique class with the theme of Core of the Matter for everyone March 13 at 10 AM. Sign up for her Pilates Mat & Toys to get a new insight of your core.
Dr. Martha Eddy: So many people talk about the core of the body…and when the fitness specialists activate your core they get your muscles strengthened to help your posture.
But when You think about or feel your abdomen what else is happening…
…often its a gurgle in your intestines, a change of tone in an organ,
a busy glandular system.
With a body-mind fitness approach to core as a trainer or a trainee you will also learn to involve the healthy use of our inner body, your deepest core in retraining the balanced use of all the deep and superficial layers of your body. We call this organ support. When the organs are happy your muscles are more at ease.
Tonifying organ tissue also helps you to access the deepest layers of your musculature which ultimately improves posture. So by working with the body-mind view of core you both tonify your organs and work efficiently with your muscles. Come learn to do this with anatomical imagery, exercises, and self-awareness techniques in our new BodyMind Fitness Certification.
Lesley Powell: Core is 3-dimensional: front, side and back. Core is dynamic. It changes depending what the movement is. Core support should give your spine its freedom in length to move. A compressed spine lacks mobility. Some think of core as only a crunch abdominal exercise.
When my health issues affect my stomach, my psoas and diaphragm gets tight. This tightness leads to problems in my spine. No one is talking much how illness affects the organs and their affect on wellness.
