BBU Schedule at Movements Afoot
Pilates has grown to more than just fitness routine. It is a powerful wellness education that can enhance one’s fitness, posture, muscular imbalances, post rehabilitation, sports/performance enhancement and wellness. To become a Pilates teacher, one has many options of specialization and growth.
I am proud to say that I passed the BBU Pilates
Teacher Comprehensive Exam on Friday night at Movements Afoot!!
I am writing to thank you and everyone at Balanced Body University.
The program is excellent. The information is written wonderfully and organized beautifully! I received great support from you, and everyone at BBU whom I contacted, as well as the Customer Service Representatives that I spoke with to order my equipment, DVDs, etc..
So, again, THANK YOU!
I also want everyone at BBU to know what a tremedous asset
you have in Lesley Powell as your New York, New York BBU Educator. She is truly a gem. Her knowledge is unparalleled and her feedback is essential. She ran the BBU program seamlessly!!
I am the mother of three small children, I teach classes/train clients in the mornings/evenings/on weekends and care for my family when I’m not “working”. Having the ability to take the modules at Movements Afoot once a month allowed me the time to do everything I needed for BBU, for my family, for my profession and for myself. I love the way Lesley set up the program!
She made me a better teacher AND a better student! During my observations at other studios, I found my appreciation and admiration for Lesley grow. Most Pilates Teachers, while good in their own right, do not have the extensive biomechanic/body-mind knowledge that I have gained from doing my training with Lesley!
It takes an incredible teacher to make great teachers and BBU has that in Lesley Powell!
I look forward to doing my continuing education as a Teacher and Student with Lesley and BBU!” With gratitude, and, Kindest regards, Cheri Wild

Hi Lesley,
Can you please remind me of what BBU courses I need to take in order to be certified through them? Since I was certified through Physical Mind Institute a couple of months ago, I would like to move along with my knowledge base.
Hope you are well.
Thank you,
Liz Hamilton

Lesley,
I just recommended a great young lady to check out your certification program. Her name is Lisa Criston. She was thinking of Power Pilates, but I told her to investigate the options with you first. I felt it would be an appropriate move on her part to find out what you offer. Balanced Body is a first rate organization and coupled with Lesley Powell’s expertise, you cannot go wrong.
Thanks,

Hi Lesley,
I am very interested in enrolling for the Pilates Certification program! I’d like to start with the upcoming Mat courses in December, but I am unclear about how/where to do the prerequisites, like anatomy. Do I need these before I can enroll, and if so where is the best place to do them?
Thanks!
Anne
Anatomy is required for the final certification. You can take it at anytime during your education process. Sign up for our newsletter to get updates of our upcoming courses and blog.
Hello again Lesley,
One more question, as I went to register I noticed the prereq for the MAt Module of the 20 mat sessions. Is this part of that module or something that has to be completed BEFORE registration? If so, do the classes have to be through Movements Afoot?
Thanks!
Anne
You can take mat classes anywhere. I encourage students to explore many styles of Pilates. We learn how to be a better teacher with taking good and bad classes.
